One more star is headed to “The Matrix 4”. Priyanka Chopra Jonas is in final negotiations to join the Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow sequel. (Details about her prospective character are currently under wraps)
The untitled Matrix film is set to open May 21, 2021 and is from Matrix co-creator Lana Wachowski, who will direct, and has a stellar cast that includes returning cast members Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Lambert Wilson who will all be reprising their original roles, plus the new additions to the cast of the Matrix’s franchise: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jessica Henwick.
"The Matrix" debuted in 1999 and told the story of a human resistance fighting against machines that had subdued humanity by keeping them inside a digital world. It was followed by 2003's "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions" and has remained a part of the pop culture consciousness for decades.
News of Chopra’s casting in "The Matrix 4" arrives as production nears an official start on the Warner Bros. feature, and it's been said that production is set to begin imminently in northern California.
