Vice tells the story of a beaurocratic Washington insider who became the most powerful man in the world as Vice-president to George W. Bush aka Sam Rockwell, reshaping the country and the globe in ways still felt to the moment. On Tuesday morning, the Official Academy awards’ nominations were announced and Vice was a holder of eight out of twenty-four. Honestly, this really shocked me the whole day! When I watched the trailer, I directly thought it would be a box office flop and critic disappointment, considering that I am not a fan of poilitical movies! On that same day, aprroximately at 8pm, I attended the special screening at Cinemall Dbayeh and what I saw was completely different! The very first astonishing aspect is Christian Bale’s transformation. I mean that was a groundbreaking transformation! If I hadn’t seen that he is part of the cast, I wouldn’t have recognized him! Everything from his physical appearance to his spectacular performance as Dick Cheney is worth that Oscar. His wife, Lynne Cheney, portrayed by Amy Adams, has that strong character full of emotions and willingness to help her husband reach that position as vice- president. Director Adam Mckay, known for The Big Short, starring Steve Carell that plays Donald Rumsfeld, executed his film with a very solid and smart technique. The latter he used is fast mix of sound and picture, which really intrigued me. The cinematography as well depicted the real events of Cheney’s life in a very vivid way! What was noticeable is the funny mood in the movie, wich compensated for the political background, which I again emphasize that I don’t like. So, this film is worth watching for those interested in history of men in politics and has a very big chance of winning all of its nominations next month!
